Anime is getting more and more popular in Australia.
It's always been watched among the Asian community, but major DVD stores as well
as department stores are beginning to sell them in greater quantities all the
time. This increase in interest is helped by the presence of anime on
free-to-air TV as well as what's now being screened on Pay TV.
Major bookstores as well as the department stores are now stocking more and more
manga as well.
I find the above groups to be very good fansubbers. Eclipse is a relatively new
fansubbing group, but you'll find their work to be very good, i.e. with Shakugan
no Shana
AniDB lists it as:
Action, Adventure, Mecha, SciFi
but I think that Anime News Network's description is more fitting, especially
the one's I've put in bold:
Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Horror, Mecha,
Mystery, Psychological, Science Fiction, Shounen
I really liked the way the plot and characters were developed, but I felt let
down that the the creators tried to explain all the important questions created
throughout the series in the very last episode; I just felt that there wasn't
enough time to let all that was revealed in the last episode sink in. Other than
this, I thought it was a great series.
I was wondering whether anyone else here has seen it and what they thought of
it.
Any thoughts, anyone?
People who don't know what anime is think that anime is just some kiddy cartoon
like Pokemon (not that I'm bagging Pokemon - it's a great show for kids). They
don't understand that anime in Japan is like TV in the western world; there's
all sorts of genres targetted to all sorts of age groups.
I've been able to get a few people watching anime, but whether or not people
choose to watch it or understand it is up to them. Whatever they say, I'll keep
watching and enjoying my anime
Exactly...I mean sure, some of the guys maybe started saying things they
shouldn't have, but the way he reacted! Imagine the poor person who would've
gone on the trip with him!

Japanese + English subs...
So much is lost when it's dubbed and the Japanese voice actors are so much more emotive!

Watch the anime and read the manga, or read the manga at least...you will _never_ regret it.
I will listen to the opening and ending at least once and then if I like them and am in the mood for it, I might listen to them again.
Most of the times though, I watch my anime back-to-back, so I want to keep the story moving so I skip the opening and endings.
Azumanga Daioh, Hajime no Ippo, Kare Kano, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Hunter X Hunter...
